Optimizing Wind Farm performance with the PI System and Transpara VisualKPI
NaturEner is a developer and operator of utility scale wind farms. Our Glacier Wind farm is unique in that we operate as a wind-only Balancing Authority. We have to monitor both operational and commercial data to ensure best performance. This means that we need to be able to visualize and report on the farm performance to various business entities. We use the PI System to monitor, analyze and optimize our wind farm data as well as our business and commercial data. We use PI Server 2010, PI Asset Framework 2010 R3, PI OLEDB Enterprise, PI Data Services and PI WebParts 2010 to collect, store, analyze and report on our wind farm performance. We use Visual KPI from Transpara to provide real-time data on all aspects of our farm performance to various aspects of our business including executives, asset managers and commercial managers. Transpara allows us to quickly create KPIs based on any PI System data and securely display them to decision-makers anywhere in the world on any device.
