Codelco Norte Division has incorporated a Plant Integration Platform PI System from the Mine to the Cathodes production area, in order to impact on the taking of decisions inside its operative units. This Platform integrates different control systems, chemical analysis systems and manual entrance real time information, development in areas such as: Mine, Concentrator, Smelting, Refineries and Oxides South Mine. This paper presents an Operational Management System, developed for the Divisional Balance in support to the Process Areas of Codelco Norte Division. The objective of this system is to support the management of metallurgical areas as well as in taking of decisions of productive areas.

Leonel Mundaca
Leonel Mundaca, born in Calama Chile, 1964, graduated in 1987 as an Electronic Civil Engineer at the age of 23 years at the Tarapaca University, Arica, Chile. Between 1988 and 1990, he performed as a Project Engineer at Mantos Blancos Mining Company. From 1990 to 1994, he performed as Automation Leader at Chuquicamata Codelco. Later on, assumed the position of Head of Automation Unit at the Foundry of Concentrate between the years 1994 and 1998. From 1998 to present has developed automation projects at the División Chuquicamata, and has managed the platform of operational integration of the Division, developing applications in the scope of reduction of costs, operational improvements, post-evaluation of projects and metallurgical balances using the PI System.
