OLEDB Goes Enterprise - The PI System Data Provider
PI OLEDB Data Provider is a key component of OSIsoft’s data access strategy. The OLEDB standard and SQL query of the PI Server allows integration with a wide range of relational database products and business intelligence applications. In this presentation we will use Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services to export PI data in XML format via e-mail. We will also demonstrate accessing PI data in a Java environment using a JDBC adapter with PI OLEDB. In the future, as the PI System evolves, we will provide SQL access to more than just PI data. In upcoming products we will expose data from AF 2.0 including time-series data, asset models, event frames, and external data sources. We will explain in this session how these challenges are addressed with our new PI Data Access Server and new PI System Data Provider.
