A mature PI customer (17 years running with 3000 current users), Duke Energy continues to drive more value from its PI Infrastructure – this time, by making real-time customer power outage data available on mobile devices. Since storms don’t occur 8am–5pm, Monday–Friday, Duke needed to extend outage and event data (previously only available on workstations) to a broader user base (e.g. plant managers, public affairs) via 24/7 Blackberry access. This presentation will discuss how Duke supplemented PI with Transpara’s Visual KPI to deliver just-in-time data for more effective response times, more efficient operations, and improved tracking of customer power outages.
Duke will also cover specific supporting topics, such as:
- Best practices for turning real-time PI data into an efficient outage tracking initiative;
- Integration of Visual KPI to extend the value of Duke’s PI Infrastructure (including RT Web Parts, Process Book, Data Link);
- Use of mobile alerts, notifications and KPI maps to free up operation center employees during outages;
- How mobile PI data further increases the OSIsoft “Value Now” proposition.
