Millions of Data Points at Your Service - What’s New with the PI Server
Back in 2003, OSIsoft introduced the million-point PI System, which has become the benchmark for our industry. Today, a growing number of customers deploy applications based on very high point count servers. The first platform release (PR1) included Replication and High Availability (HA) allowing a single system to be distributed seamlessly across many physical servers. This unique architecture brought greater reliability, improved scalability and lower operational costs. What is left to deliver? In short, bigger systems with higher throughput and capabilities, yet systems that are easier to manage. In the near term, our next Platform Release (PR2) brings several key enhancements to the PI Server. The addition of Windows® Integrated Security considerably lowers the cost of maintaining security on your PI System, while allowing central administration via Microsoft® Active Directory®. This will be made available with the upcoming incremental product release (PR2-D1). The next incremental release (PR2-D2) brings Point-Level Partitioning, which has far reaching potential. The first deliverable fully supports future data configurable on a point by point basis. System partitioning will lead to dramatic improvements in scalability as well as aggregation and federation of distributed PI Servers in future releases. Join us in this session to discover how these improvements can help you simplify system management and start innovative new projects building on the strength of the PI System.
