Being integrated, Origin has diverse operations spanning across the energy supply chain, from gas exploration and production, to power generation and energy retailing. Origin's generation portfolio is one of the largest and most diverse in Australia, with approximately 6,000MW installed capacity. Origin's strategic initiative was to centralise the monitoring and support of their generation assets into a single location. Initial challenges included multiple sites with multiple control systems, different standards and models for each site, data quality and application integration. To address these challenges, Origin chose OSIsoft to provide an enterprise-wide data infrastructure that would provide a single source of truth for their applications. This presentation will outline Origin Energy Generation's journey in implementing OSIsoft PI System at their Monitoring and Support Centre and discuss some of the integration challenges.
