The demand for safer and more cost effective drilling operations is gaining momentum in the Oil & Gas industry. To meet this challenge Aker Solutions has developed two systems, Riglogger™ and myDrilling™ that collect real time information from offshore drilling rigs and enable rig operators to increase the utilization of the equipment on the rig. Traditionally, a functional approach analyzing safety and performance was taken, where data sets were treated as islands of information. Now there is a need to move from a pure information paradigm to a knowledge-based paradigm. Establishing detailed logging from equipment, systems and down-hole is only the beginning; it might be difficult to gain momentum without enriching this with a whole new set of related information. Integrating real-time information with structured, business-oriented information gives the complete picture. To enhance it further, companies can utilize the structured information in the suppliers’ back-end systems with information from their own back-end systems. Adding an interactive collaboration platform linking crew, suppliers and support organization will lay the best foundation for outperforming competitors. The presentation describes practical examples of how information may be assembled and combined with the myDrilling approach and system from Aker Solutions. It also gives a view of the future in increasing security and gaining performance excellence of rig assets.
