PI Coresight was renamed PI Vision in 2017
This presentation will describe Chevron's Frade FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading) PI System optimization and the other achievements made possible by the complete overhaul of the system.
Chevron is one of the world's leading integrated energy companies. In Brazil, the company is present in upstream and downstream areas and include deep-water extraction along with oil and gas production operations. Frade FPSO is located in Campos Basin in Rio de Janeiro state, which is a major area of oil and gas exploration in Brazil.
The Frade PI System has approximately 6.000 tags. However, it was difficult to associate them with the corresponding assets. This made tag maintenance difficult. Also users created dashboards that were not shared, resulting in duplication of effort. It also caused difficulties with uniform process monitoring.
The PI AF configuration allowed a more organized approach, making it easier for the user to search and perform data analysis, along with a more straightforward method to access information with other tools. Furthermore, it made it possible to create several templates that could be easily replicated to build new dashboards or novel assets.
Once PI AF was configured, additional tools such as PI Notification and PI Coresight were used to provide additional value and standardization.
Finally, PI Web API along with PI AF, .NET Web Application, HTML5 and JavaScript have become powerful tools for the new demands of the Chevron team."
