Presentation: Improving Power Plant Performance at CEZ by Using the Power of the PI System Infrastructure

Efficiency and heat rate are important indicators of the health of power plant equipment and the quality of power plant operation. To measure them a powerful tool is statistical data processing of large data sets stored in data historians. These large data sets contain useful information about process quality and equipment and sensor health.

Accurate and reliable process measurement is the cornerstone of process performance monitoring, equipment diagnostic and process optimization. A powerful method to achieve this is data reconciliation based on use of redundant data and a thermodynamic model of the power plant.

The presentation summary includes a brief description of ČEZ, a.s. and its central PI Server collecting data from 17 power plants; an introduction to the PowerOPTI Project, a thermodynamic model and data reconciliation at the Porici Power Plant; expected and realized benefits of such modelling; and the architecture of PowerOPTI based on OSIsoft products.
