Improving Business Processes through Operational Intelligence in the Water Industry
(Note: this presentation recording is joined in progress at slide 3.) Colorado Springs Utilities provides clean, safe drinking water to nearly 500,000 people across 2,700 miles of water mains across Colorado. Public health is paramount. The Water Quality Assurance team in Laboratory Services at Colorado Springs Utilities protects public health and the environment by providing technical, scientific and regulatory support. As the customer service base expands, so do the challenges of effectively managing water quality. The team faces managing water infrastructure system expansion with fewer resources as budgetary challenges prevent additional hiring. In addition, obsolete systems, enterprise integration issues, data discrepancy, redundancy, and data sharing issues contribute to operational inefficiencies. OSIsoft and the PI System were sought out to overcome these obstacles.
This presentation discusses how PI Notifications and other technologies have helped us reduce operational costs by reducing costly repairs associated with water quality critical infrastructure failures, improved data turnaround times, improved business processes and ultimately revolutionized methods of business for us at Colorado Springs Utilities.
