Implementing a Long Term Asset Management Strategy with the PI System
Headquartered in the Czech Republic, CEZ Group is an established, integrated energy group with operations in a number of Central and Southeastern European countries and Turkey. CEZ's power generation portfolio consists of nuclear, coal-fired, gas, hydroelectric, and other renewable sources accounting more than 13 GW of installed capacity. In 2011, CEZ deployed the CUTD project powered by PI System to monitor and optimize its asset portfolio.
After several years of successful implementation the "Technical Control and Diagnostics Department" started a smart asset management project aimed to expand the asset life time by deploying a condition based maintenance strategy using the data already available on the company as result of the CUTD project. This data-driven approach minimized the time to value while deploying this new initiative and helped CEZ to achieve important savings on unplanned outages and reducing OPEX expenditures by shifting calendar-based to condition-based on planned maintenance activities."

Petr Hoření is the Head of Information System Development Department in OT Energy Services Company. He has 16 years' experience in the design, development and implementation of standard and custom made information systems for the power generation industry. His experiences include implementation of OSIsoft's PI System for all CEZ Power Plants in the Czech Republic during 2012-2014, integration of the system with current applications, implementation of the Enterprise Asset Management system, development of Long Term Operation suite (asset health assessment), KSK System (shutdown work and clearance management), etc."
