William L. Sigmon
William L. Sigmon is senior vice president of fossil and hydro generation for American Electric Power. He directs the activities of an asset group of baseload and cycling generating plants, and three functional areas: engineering/environmental services, asset and outage planning, and technical skills and process optimization.
Before joining AEP, Sigmon served as senior vice president of project management and technical services for Duke Energy International and DukeEnergy North America. He was responsible for management of existing asset portfolio, support for the development of assets, engineering andconstruction management, client interface and operations optimization.
He joined the Duke Energy family of companies in 1971 as a junior engineer at its Marshall Steam Station. He later served as superintendent ofmaintenance at Marshall Station, manager of reliability assurance and performance optimization in the fossil production department, manager of department services, plant manager and vice president of operations and maintenance for Duke/Fluor Daniel.
Sigmon became senior vice president of Duke Energy International and Duke Energy North America in 1997. He is a graduate of North Carolina State University in Raleigh, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering. He has completed an Advanced Management Program at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business Executive Education. He has also successfully completed the Reactor Technology Program for Utility Executives at Massachusetts Institute of Technology Department of Nuclear Training. Mr. Sigmon is on the board of trustees for TheAmerican Heart Association. He is committee member and vice chairman of the Association of Edison Illuminating Companies.
