RHI is a global supplier of high-grade refractory products, systems and services for industrial high-temperature processes exceeding 1,200 °C. With 8,000 employees, 33 production facilities and 70 sales offices, RHI serves 10,000 customers from the steel, cement, nonferrous metals, glass, energy and chemical industries in nearly all countries of the world.
Timely access to reliable process data is the key to efficient decision making. With the focus on customer satisfaction and product quality, it is important to have not only real time process data, but also access to the historic process data for the better understanding, analysis and optimization of the production process worldwide. PI Systems have helped the production plants and the research and development groups in RHI to go a step further in their quest for providing the best quality and throughput with reduced load on emissions and resources. The initial idea was to use PI Processbook as a tool for process visualization in RHI. Over time, the applications of PI Systems in RHI have increased manifold. With the use of ProcessBook, Datalink, Asset Framework, Notifications, PI Systems have achieved a whole new level in the process management at RHI.
With the help of relevant examples the presentation offers an insight into the numerous ways PI Systems contribute to accomplishment of the goals of RHI. The access to process data for very fast and slow processes, process benchmarking, comparison of performance across plants and equipment are some of major benefits that PI Systems offer to make real time decisions in RHI.
