Get More From Your PI System Data with Advanced Analytics
Headquartered in Toronto, Barrick Gold Corporation is the largest gold mining company in the world. Barrick is actively investing in analytics to improve operations and its bottom line. Like many organizations on this journey, Barrick had to initially organize raw PI System data into Asset Framework and Event Frames for both basic analytics and fleet-wide analysis of equipment performance.
This session covers Barrick's ongoing analytics journey and their approach to assessing the right analytics for their business. Barrick plans to get more value out of their PI System data by standardizing and contextualizing the data to assess the potential value of descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive analytics. Descriptive analytics provide information about failures and past problems by standardizing PI System data in an organized, consistent form through the creation of hierarchies in Asset Framework. Diagnostic analytics reveal why failures happened and provide both fleet-wide and equipment specific insights for continuous improvement. Diagnostic analytics are achieved through the contextualization of PI System data using machine learning to create Event Frames. Predictive analytics use data science and machine learning to identify future failure of critical assets. Based in San Francisco, Element Analytics is an OSIsoft Connected Application partner that organizes industrial data into an accessible and useful form to enable descriptive, diagnostic and predictive analytics for industrial companies on Microsoft Azure."
