ERCOT is responsible for monitoring the electric transmission system for a large portion of Texas. In the past, the PI System was used to simply record telemetry signals for use in historical analysis and to answer question after the fact. In recent years, ERCOT has transitioned to using PI, and other OSIsoft applications, to assist with real-time decision making and system-wide awareness. Continuing with this trend, ERCOT now looks to incorporate future information to assist Control Room decision making.
