A well run business needs to accurately know and control its process costs, optimize performance, monitor asset health and enhance market value. This is a challenge for an electric utility. Electric utilities deal with assets and discrete technologies that span decades, across multiple locations. Fossil Generation developed a multi-layered strategy, to develop a totally integrated solution, across our 19 unit fossil fleet. This approach displays actionable information that enables the best decisions to be made that affect operations, reliability, budget and market strategies. This multi-layered approach incorporates technology solutions provided by industry leaders, each process technology solution is totally integrated, across our fleet with a focused objective. These technical solutions work in conjunction with a business model coupled with our enterprise business systems (SAP / Maximo), all organized in a System Hierarchy for consistent reporting. A fleet wide Performance Center was activated to optimize our fleet operations and its assets and to make accurate capacity and cost assessment of our units when offering them to our Midwest ISO.
