At the 2005 UC in San Francisco, OSIsoft introduced the Foundation project. This project was aimed at unifying and extending our existing hierarchical and modeling tools: PI Module Database and PI Analysis Framework. This has led to a new version of the AF 2.0. During this presentation, we will present this new database engine that leverages SQL 2005 technology. Through the new PI System Explorer tool, we will present an overview of AF objects (UOMs, Enumeration Sets, Tables, Element templates, Attribute templates, Models, Hierarchies) and new functionalities (versioning, hierarchical attributes, scalability, searches …). Upgrade path from the PI Module Database and compatibility with former version of PI Analysis Framework will also be discussed. We will conclude with the roadmap for future development and integration with clients tools.
