Fewer Wires, More Data: Harnessing New Technology at the Network Edge
RtTech is working in the Industrial IoT space connecting wireless sensors using industrial edge devices to OSIsoft’s PI System. RtTech currently has a successful project deployed at JDI, harnessing the scalable IIoT solution to allow the team at JDI to connect more assets to their existing PI system. By leveraging the existing system, JDI is able to avoid the large costs associated with a 'rip and replace' approach to implementing new software.
RtTech has developed an embedded data connector that allows for easy edge deployment and high connectivity for the PI System. The embedded data connector allows for the collection of data using the IIoT MQTT protocol and OSISoft’s WebAPI. This new IIoT connector has several features that makes it attractive to connect devices that traditionally would not be connected.
1. It is Linux and Windows based,
2. It is OPC UA certified,
3. It provides n-way fail-over,
4. It provides local buffering,
5. It allows for auto PI tag creation and population of data, 6. It provides a live cloud based broker,
7. It allows for Cellular data connectivity.
