Presentation: Evolving into the Digital Mill

Digital Transformation is a concept that we have been living with for the past decade, it has different names like Big Data or IoT. All the technology trends are a little different, but they all have a common denominator – DATA. With augmented reality, vibration monitoring and real-time advanced analytics becoming commonplace in mills, it is hard to imagine all the possibilities of having the digital version of the mill at one’s fingertips. In this presentation, I will provide an overview of paper companies that are strategically contextualizing the data to analyze the information, which results in a better way to visualize their world. I will cover different methods available, like using relational databases, statistical analyses, and Business Intelligence tools. The use of data as an asset is paramount to the digital transformation of the mills. Data-driven decisions are part of our daily lives at home, let's do the same at the mills.
