ERCOT’s Use of the OSIsoft Ecosystem for the New Reliability Risk Operator Desk
With the increasing amount of renewable generation in the ERCOT Interconnection, there is a heightened need to assess and manage more-infrequent yet potentially severe risks. To address these concerns ERCOT has created the Reliability Risk operator desk to, in part, focus on: • Real-Time Wind and Solar Performance • Wind and Solar Forecast Error Risk To accomplish these newly required tasks, ERCOT has developed web-based applications that leverage functionality from following OSIsoft products: • ERCOT’s AF model to connect raw telemetry with geospatial data for renewable resources. • AF’s ability to connect to data sources external to the PI Data Archive. • AF’s ability to analyze, aggregate and summarize large amounts of data. • The PI WebAPI to drive best-of-breed HTML5 JavaScript libraries. ERCOT has been able to: • Build responsive and context-rich displays • Bring order to the “fire hose” of telemetered data • Create dashboard using data from disparate systems
