The Enterprise Gateway accelerates SOA adoption around the PI System. Service-oriented architecture (SOA) is a flexible, standardized architecture designed to better support the sharing of data among disparate applications. The Enterprise Gateway is a SOA architecture that facilitates the sharing of information from the PI System with other external systems by web services. The Enterprise Gateway uses AF for its catalog of services and monitoring. The Enterprise Gateway has a library of pre-built modules that deliver complex business functionality that transforms data into information. The Gateway can also be used for the development of modules by the customer or SI. The Enterprise Gateway is its own “component container”, whose objective is to orchestrate requests into and out of the PI System, it is fully interoperable with any system regardless of Operating System or language; therefore, it is compatible with the customer’s choice of Process Integration system, such as SAP PI, SAP MII, IBM MQ Series, or Microsoft BizTalk when needed. The initial offering of the Enterprise Gateway will have a Smart Connector Module Package for AMI and EAM (Enterprise Asset Management).
