The presentation will review the status of PECO’s installation of PI Historian for the collection and analysis of power system substation status information to determine equipment health, and move to true condition based reliability centered maintenance. John will review successes and lessons learned over the past year of implementation. The presentation will cover demonstration of process book displays for generic equipment data displays with ODBC links to other vendor databases, the integration of an IEEE transformer loading routine into a PI process book to develop a transformer temperature prediction; their use of PI Batch with forecasting, IT Monitor; and PI for their new AMR project with displays of AC cycling.

John has over 17 years experience as an engineer at PECO Energy. He started as an engineer in the power system planning group performing system simulations. He then performed IT support for engineering applications in the group. His next assignment was as a shift manager in system operations responsible for the day-to-day operations of PECO's power system, and then managed the support group for the power system operations control room. Currently he is a business specialist in the PECO Energy IT group developing new technology and applications for the PECO distribution company, and managing the energy management system hardware support group.
He has a BS and MS degree from Drexel University, and is a registered professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
