Enabling Integration of Work Processes in Upstream Oil and Gas
Pal Rylandsholm of DNV will describe his experience with the implementation of the Integrated Information Platform (IIP) project. IIP enables the integration of work processes in the upstream oil and gas industry by providing a standardized integrated information platform based on ISO 15926 (“Integration of life-cycle data for oil and gas production facilities”). This is achieved by identifying, improving, and integrating the technology required to provide an optimal set of real-time data from upstream production facilities. The domains addressed include reservoir characterization, drilling and logging, well production, safety and automation, subsea production, and condition-based maintenance. Synergies between the IIP project objectives and OSIsoft’s RtPM Platform will be presented as the business case for an integrated information platform. The management of upstream production data is a problem faced by many operating companies today. Experience gained from the IIP project is being used to influence the development of a data exchange standard called ProdML™, or Production Markup Language. ProdML is an industry-led initiative designed to streamline the flow of real-time data to simulation, data reconciliation and optimization applications. ProdML is an evolution of the Wellsite Information Transfer Standard Markup Language (WITSML) maintained by the Petroleum Open Standards Consortium (POSC).OSIsoft’s Ray Verhoeff is an active participant of the ProdML Working Group. Ray will outline the development process for ProdML and will show how the IIP project provides a significant use case for the development of an effective data exchange standard, and how the RtPM Platform is a firstclass provider of ProdML data.
