Eastman Chemical: Using Asset Framework and PowerBI to Identify Alarm Management Opportunities
Alarm management is an important safety concern for any company. Nuisance alarms, chattering alarms, and other alarm configuration issues can lead to unsafe control room situations. Eastman Chemical utilized several tools, including Asset Framework to organize alarms into a hierarchy and incorporate crew/shift data, and PowerBI to visualize hourly alarms against corporate "manageable limit" guidelines across the company. With these new dashboards area leaders were able to identify control rooms with unsafe alarm conditions, and more efficiently apply alarm management resources to reduce those hourly alarms to a more manageable and safe level for operations.
