This presentation will follow the journey of E.ON UK’s PI System implementation since the standardization to one plant data management system across the fleet. We will discuss the way PI System was initially used to communicate with the DCS and how we quickly realized the benefits of using it as a central repository for most site systems and some off-site business applications. The experience gained creating the infrastructure, developing the systems, and generating value added applications has allowed us to see a real benefit both in time and money across the fleet. We would like to share some of these examples with other PI System users from specific site applications of the PI System to Fleet wide applications and how the PI System has been utilised to replace obsolete equipment on older plants.
