Digital Transformation in Water Production (CWS,DST)
Cal Water produces over 5 billion gallons of water per year. Our challenge is keeping track of each gallon- its source, cost and location.
We changed our computer assisted production reporting process into a digitally transformed process - a process whose users simply ask the system for data and get it instantaneously.
First, we organized our data into a hierarchy based on business value rather than physical measurement units. Next, we improved data collection and analyses.
Now, users review a report, electronically sign it, and send it to Accounting and Compliance.
PI AF is a perfect architecture for our digital transformation. Using PI AF, PI Analytics, PI Web API we aggregate data from our 1000+ pumps into just a few numbers. With just 30 or so AF Templates, we configured calculations for 2000 pumps quickly and easily.
People now discuss business issues rather than production mechanics. More accurate data, delivered sooner means a more efficient, flexible business.
