Digital Oilfields and Decision Support Applications at Chevron SJV
Chevron's Upstream Workflow Transformation team is developing OSIsoft-based business intelligence applications to address needs for asset integrity, verification and validation; field data capturing for routine duties, maintenance, steam generation and distribution data visualization for performance tuning and analytics. The primary goal is to address all the basic requirements around data visualization and collaboration requirements for the decision support team and at the same time to provide a sophisticated visualization platform for predictive analytics and diagnostics.
These applications are set to provide dashboards for central decision support members of an integrated visualization environment, while at the same time they are extended to field engineers’ desktops in the process control domain and to business executives’ fingertips on iPads and iPhones at the base business. These applications are also available to a field operator using mobile devices for asset maintenance, performance tuning or simply for data verification. Chevron SJV has already assessed a value capture of well over USD 19 MIL in the year 2012 and this will exponentially increase in the subsequent years to come as they apply these applications to other use cases like Steam Generation and Distribution, Rotating Equipment, Pump Units, etc. This presentation provides an overview of how OSIsoft's real-time streaming data and events infrastructure in association with PI System tools can address end to end dashboard-based surveillance needs for decision support members in Upstream with real-time run and maintain status, notifications, alarms and triggers along with dashboards for predictive analytics and diagnostics.
