MOL Downstream has been leveraging the PI System and in particular PI Asset Framework over the last 5+ years to deliver significant value as part of their New Downstream Program. At the EMEA UC2015 in Prague, they reported delivering over $500M in increased margin enabled by advanced use of the PI System in the areas of energy efficiency, yields, maintenance, and hydrocarbon on loss.
In particular, the use of PI Asset Framework(PI AF) to perform complex calculations, CBM, and predictive analytics has been a game changer in improving asset integrity, downstream value chain integration, and operational excellence. Over the last year, MOL Downstream has continued pushing the envelope with PI AF, PI Coresight, and Microsoft Azure/machine learning to continue the improvement to controllable margin. In particular, performing advanced calculations, predictive analytic, and experiences with Microsoft machine learning will be highlighted in the areas of corrosion, natural gas and utilities system optimization, and proactive/predictive asset analytics. The mechanics of performing each of these techniques will be presented in detail to enable the audience to be able to understand how they too can implement these advanced analytics and calculations in their own companies to deliver business value.
