This presentation will provide a history on the use of the PI System at NYISO, including its current use in the new state-of-the-art New York Control Center. The PI System is used to improve situational awareness, real-time visualization, alerting and reporting for Engineering, Operations and Planning, as well as in Billing and Settlements, and Load Forecasting. The presentation will also describe automation work being done with the PI System and the importance of data for real-time alerting and analytics in the New York system.

Matt Musto is a Senior Project Manager for the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO). His primary job function includes product development and support for NYISO’s system operations personnel. This includes both EMS and Market software functions within the control room as well as the visualization software used to manage NYISO’s power system. Matt holds in a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Clarkson University.
