PRESENTATION
2018 - PI World - San Francisco - Day 3: Developer Track 4
Data Collection at the Edge
In the world of Industrial IoT, collecting and storing data close to the source is needed in order to provide end users value with real time applications at the Edge. The OSIsoft Edge Data Store is a new storage technology that can be used to provide real-time data storage at the Edge of networks. The Edge Data Store provides the necessary infrastructure to deliver real time Edge applications to end users while providing a gateway into OSIsoft’s larger real-time systems such as PI Data Archive or OSIsoft Cloud Services. In this HowTo presentation, we’ll cover what the Edge Data Store is and how we envision customers will use it at the Edge of networks. We’ll show you how to use OSIsoft Open Message Format to create applications to send data into Edge DS, and then show you how you can create local user applications directly from data stored in Edge DS. Finally, we’ll show you how to use Edge DS to extend applications from the Edge to the Enterprise or the Cloud.
