Coreso is an independent company where engineers from several nationalities work together to check and improve the Security of Supply level in Western Europe. As a Regional Coordination Service Centre they provide shareholders with services of coordination with regards to the forecast and operation of electricity flows.
Thanks to OSIsoft's PI System they have a wide overview of electricity flows and alerts about risk situations; these enhance the Security of Supply by providing a vision of electricity flows complementary to the national vision of Coreso engineers.
Speaker
Grégoire Bénonie
Grégoire Bénonie is currently one of three Security and Coordination Engineers in charge of developing displays and performing updates and maintenance for the CORESO control room, receiving real time data from four TSOs and integrating all the results of the day-ahead studies into the PI System. As Coreso is a small company, there is no IT department. The PI System was more flexible in adapting to this constraint than a SCADA system. Bénonie has worked with the PI System since 2011 and is in charge of deploying OSIsoft’s PI System for Coreso, which uses this technology as a supervision system to improve the Security of Supply level in Western Europe electricity flows. Prior to joining Coreso, Bénonie worked for RTE in France, in the East regional control center as dispatcher and trainer.
