The age of Industrial Digital Transformation is upon us and corporations are responding with ‘digitization’ strategies to reduce cost and maximize return. Operations are embracing the latest enabling technologies, with proven data management systems such as PI, to turn digital strategies into positive results. Variability in the modern mining process remains an underlying challenge. Issues with mobile assets are often contributors to this variability. With new rugged wireless technology and advancements in methods for moving near-real-time equipment data, opportunities exist for connecting mobile assets to the PI system. This can help manage the asset and reduce variability in the material movement process. This presentation will highlight the advancements in mining vehicle telemetry with turn-key integration into the PI system. References and examples to several successful project implementations at Glencore’s Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations as well as other Mining and Mineral Processing sites in North America will be showcased.
