Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CESMII): Developing Advanced Analytics Platform To Accelerate US Manufacturing Competitiveness
The Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CESMII), a partner of the Department of Energy, is a consortium of academia and industry chartered to develop a platform for smart technologies and systems for use in advanced manufacturing, to keep US companies competitive through data insight and advanced analytics. The speaker will outline the Institute’s journey and describe example use cases that leveraged its robust, growing network of technology partners and service providers. He will also describe an example of successfully integrating the PI System both as a data aggregator and as a key contextualization component of CESMII’s cloud-based analytics and modeling platform.

Scott Miller
Scott Miller is the Smart Manufacturing Practice Leader for the Gulf Coast Regional Manufacturing Center within the Texas A&M Energy Institute, a regional operation of the Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute. His responsibilities include defining, developing, and implementing Smart Manufacturing applications with and for the institute members in the Gulf Coast Region. He also assists with outreach and training to manufacturers and vendors in the region.
Previously, Scott was a sales representative of Automation and Control products and technologies in the Houston area. Calling on a wide variety of manufacturers, he assisted them with learning new technologies, implementing new products, and improving production lines and processes.
Scott holds a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University and an MBA from The University of Houston. He is a registered Professional Engineer with a specialty in Control Systems.
