Big Data Collaboration Leads to Big Impact: Driving Innovation Through University-Industry Strategic Partnerships
This presentation highlights how Lehigh University, a private research university in Bethlehem, PA, formed a comprehensive, strategic partnership with OSIsoft to advance big data analytics curriculum, research and innovation, and workforce development. The PI System is being used by Lehigh faculty and students to analyze complex data in research areas such as energy management, equipment operations, and production optimization. Additionally, faculty in Lehigh’s Department of Computer Science are incorporating PI software into big data analytics curriculum. Finally, the University is exploring how use of PI can drive operational efficiencies and smart building research on campus. This multifaceted relationship has led to quantifiable results, such as developing a talent pipeline between the university and OSIsoft and exploring scientific discoveries that can translate to meaningful results on industry and society at large.
