Let me tell you how Weyerhaeuser used PI API to save $180,000 in one week. We used Handheld PCs, PI, Access, and Excel in combination to collect vibration and temperature data on equipment (motors, pumps, valves, etc.), in order to, determine when a defect is present in the mechanical or electric system (Bearing Defects, Mis-Alignments, Cavitation, etc.). Then with these found defects, we create Maintenance Work Schedules and Shut Plans.

I was a Process Engineer for Weyerhaeuser for about 3 years (This is also when I was first introduced to PI). Now I am the LSC for the Weyerhaeuser Hawesville Operations (The IT Manager for the site). Prior to working for Weyerhaeuser, I was a Project Manager for Reilly Industries in Indianapolis, IN for 2 years. I managed the development of new chemical process lines. Prior to Reilly Industries, I worked for Sagian Inc. in Indianapolis, IN for 1 year and developed robots for pharmaceutical and genetic assays. I graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (#1 Engineering College in the US as ranked by US NewsWeek) with a BA in Chemical Engineering.
