BASF owns and operates multiple plants across the globe. Mr. Moody and Mr. Thornton, part of the corporate group, will describe how the PI System has been used over time. They will then go over some of the current initiatives at BASF and will uncover some of the future plans. In this talk, you will learn how the PI System made it easy for BASF to successfully realize various projects with a combination of centrally managed initiatives and internal user groups at each plant.

Michael Moody & Geoffery Thornton
Michael Moody is a Automation/Process Control Engineer with 20+ years of experience. Moody's career began at Ciba-Geigy and became part of Ciba Specialty Chemicals after the merger to form Novartis. While at Ciba-Geigy, Moody was responsible for maintaining automation systems and providing support for optimization of processes. This led to project support and eventually management of automation projects. Moody currently works in a Technical Expertise group providing leadership for BASF North America in the automation arena. This includes the instrument to the DCS to the MES layer. Moody's experience with the PI System range from basic user to a brief stint as PI System Manager to sharing “best practices' among BASF sites in North America.
