This presentation explores the paradigm shift that moved MOL Group Refining Division from using OSIsoft’s PI System as a high performance, plant-wide historian to the foundation for enterprise value creation across the Petroleum Refining Division of the company. The days of looking at plant operations and maintenance on an individual basis, striving for local (site) optimization, are numbered. Successfully integrated operation of refining assets is demanding more: global optimization of the entire fleet, which requires timely and profitable decisions based on actionable, real-time information. This new challenge has driven establishment of a unified, real-time information infrastructure across the fleet and the recognition of the fact that standardization, identification of potential synergies, powerful application development (codification of knowledge), asset-centric representation of information, easy and effective distribution of best practices plays crucial part in the success.
