An Overview into Roche PI System Journey
Roche is using the PI System since around 2000 and last year they signed an Enterprise Agreement with OSIsoft. Starting with a short company overview, Roche will share how their motivation to be a more data driven company and having a global single version of the truth system, were key decisions to enter into an EA. It will follow with an overview of their current PI System usage across the production network, some thoughts on their planned extension and a 5 year roadmap plan. In addition, the session will introduce a use case where the PI System is used for environmental monitoring in a new research building in Basel, with flexible modular room layouts. Rooms are put together on the fly from cells, and event frames are used to represent the current room layout. There are no fixed visualization displays. Visualizations on wall panels and in the browser are all created automatically based on the dynamic information from the PI System. This session will extend to 40 minutes, ending at 12:40 pm.

Study in Technical Informatics, University of Applied Sciences in Ulm. Started professional career as software developer for hard-realtime embedded systems 1994 with an integrator company. 1997 joined Roche in Penzberg site. Several roles (Project Engineer, Project Manager, Group Manager) and last as Direct for Process Automation and MES. 2015 joined Pharma Global Engineering in Basel, a group within Pharmaceutical Technical Operations. Since July 2016, I have the role as Global Technology Lead for Process Automation, Layer 3 systems (MES, Historian) and Building Automation.

Philipp Sutter
Philipp Sutter has an MS in Electrical Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and spent most of his professional life in the pharmaceutical industry. He is the owner of OctaveSoft GmbH in Basel, Switzerland. With more than 20 years of PI System experience, he has been involved internationally in various PI System implementations, upgrades, mergers, as well as the implementation of standard and custom interfaces and tools around the PI System infrastructure. He is a long time member of the vCampus and PI Square community, and a PI System champion. He is involved every day in helping his customers gain the most value out of their PI Systems.

Thorsten Ulbricht
Starting his IT Career with a background in Telecommunications Engineering, Thorsten Ulbricht began to plan, engineer and operate complex IT infrastructures in the late 90s.
In 2010, Thorsten got involved in a growing amount of projects within the pharmaceutical industry.
Since 2015, he has been the TPM on a project that monitors environments in a highly flexible architectural setup. In addition to the pure monitoring, also the approximation of the dynamic environmental setup and the dynamic visualization of data is in scope of this project.
