Sometimes we need to think outside the box and be persistent to find solutions that are truly real and bring considerable results to the company. It is known how difficult and complex is the construction of rigorous mass and energy balances, having in mind that we need complex enthalpy calculations, dozens of derivations and extensive thermodynamics tables. This case will present the path we took from the problem detection in the field to the evaluated solutions and how useful was to think outside the box, without going directly to the easy, known solutions and, consequently, tempting. The path was long before finding a solution that was truly simple, easy to understand and editable by anyone in any Solvay site. And more importantly, we utilized native OSIsoft resources, however, that were unknown.
