Abbott Labs/AG Solution: Transitioning to a Modern PI System in a Validated Environment
PI Coresight was renamed PI Vision in 2017
Abbott Nutrition along with AG Solution will describe how validation is performed at the Abbott Granada Plant. The objective was to develop robust validation templates that would bring huge benefits and time savings to projects across all sites. The speakers will also discuss their experiences migrating from PI Batch to Event Frames, PI WebParts development, implementing PI Coresight 2016 while preparing for the next release, and using PI Integrators to reduce SQL Server programming when working with BI tools.
The presentation will include details of the project, its current status, as well as best practices and tips for standardizing across different sites.

Julio López
Julio López has been with Abbott for 15 years, the last six years as a PI System subject matter expert at the Granada plant in Spain. Starting as an IT and Automation Engineer and while supporting various IT-OT initiatives and plant shutdowns since 2006, during which modern automation systems were implemented, he discovered his passion for the PI System. Initial successes led to a global initiative to expand the PI System worldwide. Julio is now one of Engineers leading the PI System's expansion to various departments such as QA, Planning and Production.As a lead solution Engineer, Julio worked on a proof of concept project to validate the latest version of the PI System, integrating Analytics and Visualization, while establishing deep collaboration with Abbott's Center of Excellence and Field Service teams. He holds a degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Granada and a postgraduate degree in Automation.

Marc Oliv Torralba is a Senior System Engineer at the AG Solution Group. He began his career as an automation engineer and worked across several industries. His exposure to the PI System began in the Food & Life Sciences Industry 3 years ago. He has worked on integrating the PI System at many Plants and has helped many different sites get business value from it. Marc holds a M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and a postgraduate diploma in Industrial Automation from the Polytechnical University of Catalonia.
