Southern Water is one of the largest water and waste utilities in the UK and has been a long time user of the PI System. However, whilst the PI System has been helpful as a legacy datastore of time series data it has had limited use across the business. This has changed dramatically following proof of concepts that build on what they already have to bring the additional power of AF, Event Frames, Notifications, Vision, etc. During this presentation we will show examples such as how Regulatory-critical Pollution Spill reporting has been improved in accuracy, consistency and timeliness through exploiting the full power of OSIsoft solution with the potential to move from reactive reporting of issues to proactive improvements in operational performance. Many companies simply use the PI System as a Historian - this is a real-life story of how there is so much more value to be gained from deploying the full power of OSIsoft solutions.
