2018 - PI World - San Francisco - Academic Symposium
Multidisciplinary Collaboration for Student Education - UC Davis PI Systems for learning & research
UC Davis has used the PI System to form the backbone of the operations and sustainability programs on campus for several years. Campus Utilities is a partner in the educational outcomes of students making data available for anyone on the internet as well as targeted classes.
Kiernan will provide an overview of the PI System at UC Davis and the uses in the Energy Conservation Office (ECO). She will highlight where ECO has partnered with professors to engage students in experimental learning using Smart Campus Data from the PI System. Finally she will describe the student team working with the PI Web API to develop products for ECO engineers.
Jill will describe one of the most engaged research efforts on campus that has partnered with UC Davis Operations. The Robert Mondavi Institute vision is to develop a net-zero water, electric and carbon teaching winery of the future. The Department of Viticulture and Enology partnered with the UC Davis Operations team, the Mechanical Engineering department and OSIsoft to apply for a grant from the California Energy Commission to create a microgrid within campus to meet their goals for a net-Zero, energy independent facility.
