Monitoring of the ITAIPU Dam using PI System
Itaipu Binacional is the result of the cooperation between Brazil and Paraguay, a world leader in clean and renewable energy. There are 24 units of remote acquisition that monitor the ITAIPU's civil structure, where each unit centralizes data acquisition of several auscultation instruments. A custom and dedicated system is responsible for acquiring this information. As the solution is customized according to the need of users, including acquisition, analysis and alarms, it has problems in scalability, maintainability and extensibility. As EA customer, it was proposed to use PI System infrastructure to develop a solution that would cover all requisites and functionalities of previous system solving those problems. Several PI System modules have been used to develop the solution, including Vision, AF, Notifications, Event Frames, Analysis, Interface for RDMS, without programming lines, only configurations and done dynamically using AF templates, avoiding rework and facilitating changes.
