How PI AF helps you to facilitate your data management process
This use case is an example of PI Asset Framework facilitating a business process. More specific the process to create KPIs for the follow up of the performance of a power plant fleet based on raw data.
Asset Framework enabled the full automation of this process, from collecting and modelling the raw data to the calculations and quality control of the KPIs.
The presentation consists of a short introduction about the process with its pros and cons, although most of time will be spent on live demos about:
- How the raw data is modelled and calculated
- How event framing is used to guarantee accurate data
- How non-time series data from external sources is integrated in the models

Roy Nolf
Roy (35) graduated as a bachelor in Informatics back in 2003. He started working for Bekaert as a junior data analyst and was also responsible for production and quality reporting. In 2009, Roy joined Engie Electrabel as a data manager for the coal and biomass fired power plant in Ruien (Belgium). Since his first working day at Engie Electrabel, Roy started working with OSIsoft PI as an end user and extended his skills step by step by tackling ‘in field demands/needs’. In 2014, Roy joined BU Generation Europe as a business data analyst. Since one year, he is fully focused on PI Asset Framework (AF) to create added value for the business.

Frederik Foulon
After his studies in mechanical engineering Frederik (46) joined the Engie group back in 1994, starting his career as a technical designer. As from 1997 he took up different roles in operations and maintenance of thermal power plants. In 2008 he came in touch with technical data management for the follow up of the performance of the power plant fleet. In 2015 he became head of business information management for Engie’s European fleet of powerplants.
