Exploring the Future of Digital Twins with OSIsoft and SIRIUS
The ongoing population explosion of users and data is making all of us re-think how people, applications, and data come together. One approach is Digital Twins: virtual representations of physical assets, sophisticated enough to drive complex analytics and simulations without expensive custom integration. The promise of Digital Twins drives us at OSIsoft to address some vast prerequisite challenges: contextualizing the data, personalizing the system, enabling collaboration, and integrating seamlessly with deep learning and artificial intelligence.
OSIsoft Research is working in collaboration with SIRIUS, a research consortium for scalable data access in the Oil & Gas domain. This session is a call for collaboration: come explore these topics with us! In this talk, we will look at the vision for Digital Twins and our ongoing work towards that goal. We are excited to engage with all of you, so the session will conclude with an extended question-and-answer period.

David Cameron
David Cameron is the Centre Coordinator for the SIRIUS Centre for Scalable Data Access at the University of Oslo. He is a Chemical Engineer with 30 years of industrial experience in the metals, chemicals and petroleum industries. His technical specialization is the application of simulation to the optimization of operations. He has worked in applied research, strategy and development management roles in BHP Billiton, Norsk Hydro, Kongsberg Group and then in consulting and senior business development roles related to the internet of things in IBM and Sopra Steria. He earned his doctorate in simulator-based process analytics from the University of Cambridge.

Speaker
Evgeny Kharlamov
Evgeny is an Associate Professor at the University of Oslo and Senior Research Fellow at the University of Oxford; he was previously a visiting researcher at the Universities of Oxford and Edinburgh and a researcher at the University of Bolzano and INRIA Saclay.
Evgeny's work has led to more than 70 publications including top tier conferences and journals. His work on semantic equipment diagnostics, industrial model management, and on semantic access to Siemens turbine data have won recognition at the International Semantic Web Conference.
Evgeny played a leading role in Oxford's participation in a large-scale EU funded Optique project on end-user oriented access to industrial Big Data. He was one of the co-authors and a research co-investigator of the EPSRC grant on data analytics (£866,527). He is the PI on several projects including an industry-funded with Siemens (£200,000) on semantic diagnostics of complex industrial production systems and on analytics and model management
