BASF Reliability Center for Remote Condition Monitoring to Improve Plant Availability
In 2016 BASF introduced a Reliability Center for remote condition monitoring. The overall goal is to optimize plant availability and predict failures of chemical production plants around the globe. The Reliability Center offers a proactive condition monitoring service to all BASF plants which is provided by subject matter experts. The monitored equipment spreads from heavy duty rotating equipment like gas or steam turbines to smaller process equipment like circulation pumps or blowers. A central platform utilizing the PI system was established which provides data access to all different experts among the company. By using Asset Framework and its Templates a standardized database could be established which allows fast and easy onboarding of new assets into the Reliability Center services. Event Frames are a powerful feature to set the focus on critical assets whereby PI Vision Displays assist in visualizing the different datasets to the experts in the right way.
